Mike is passionate about new advances in the intersection of internet technology and healthcare. Prior to starting MedCrypt, he was the founder of Gamma Basics, a radiation oncology focused software startup. Gamma Basics was acquired by Varian Medical Systems in 2013. Mike holds an MBA from the Wharton School, and a Master of Medical Physics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mike has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare and medical devices, including extensive experience designing and developing large, capital equipment medical devices (e.g., linear accelerators, x-ray imaging equipment). Mike has reviewed or consulted on over 40 medical device cryptography infrastructures, with a deep understanding of requirements for embedded medical device systems, small device limitations, and regulatory requirements. Prior to MedCrypt, Mike was the cofounder of Gamma Basics, a software company focused on building tools for use in radiation oncology. Gamma Basics was acquired by Varian Medical Systems in 2013. Prior to co-founding MedCrypt, Mike was a product manager at Varian Medical Systems, where he managed cloud-based radiation oncology quality assurance systems. Mike is a 2021 San Diego Business Journal Top 40 Under 40.
